Joint delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Jamiat, SIO meets Assam CM to press demand of adequate compensation for Dholpur victims, rehabilitation of evictees

Darrang, Assam, 27 Sept. 2021: A joint delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Jamiatul Ulema Hind (JUH) and Students Islamic organisation of India (SIO) has held a meeting with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over the forced Dholpur eviction and police firing incident. 


In a detailed discussion with the Assam Chief Minister, the delegation raised the issue of eviction, police resort to violence and the settlement of evictees. Assuring cooperation, CM Himanta Sarma asked the delegation to visit the site, assess the requirements and tell him what immediate measures he could take. Assuring  that the government will provide the required support, the Chief Minister urged the JIH and JUH to start the relief work.


Today, the delegation is visiting the incident site at Dholpur and meeting with the affected families.


Yesterday, the delegation, which was also accompanied by MLAs of AIUDF, met with Darrang District Magistrate Ms.Prabhati Thaosen and Darrang SP Sushanta Biswa Sarma to raise the issue.
